On June 19 of this year, 3 concrete statues of hammerhead sharks were dropped into about 10 feet of water near the Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach, FL. The goal of the 1500 pound shark figures is to attract divers and snorkelers to the area. The underwater exibit was created and paid for by artist Tom McDonald.

The Riviera Beach/West Palm beach area has long been a hot spot for shark encounters. Although the number of attacks is relatively small compared to beaches further north in Brevard and Volusia County, the warm crystal clear water in West Palm makes it ideal for spectacular shark sightings.
